Non-Varsity Jazz Ensemble
August - May
The Non-Varsity Jazz Ensemble is an entry level jazz ensemble for students who have little previous experience with jazz performance. Students will learn the styles of swing, ballad, rock, and latin in addition to basic improvisation. The band will perform at concerts, festivals, and special events throughout the year.
- Prerequisite: Audition/Approval by Directors
- Auditions: Held in May
- Rehearsals: During class period.
- Performances and competitions: Begin in November and continue through May.
- Cost: Students can expect to pay a fee for participation to cover certain expenses.
- Attendance: All out-of-school rehearsals and performances are required.
- Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet. Additional instruments vary depending on selected jazz charts.
