About Varisty Jazz Ensemble

The Varsity Jazz Ensemble is an advanced level class for students to learn improvisation, jazz theory, and the styles of swing, ballad, rock, Latin, and fusion. Members are encouraged to prepare the Jazz All-Region audition occuring in September. The band will perform at concerts, festivals, and special events throughout the year.

• Prerequisite: Director Approval
• Rehearsals: Single Block Class Period
• Performances and competitions: Begin in September and continue through May.
• Attendance: All out-of-school rehearsals and performances are required.
• Instruments: Piano, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Saxophone, Trombone, Trumpet. Additional instruments vary depending on selected jazz chart.
